TATTOO AFTERCARE

GENERAL INFORMATION

Healing time for tattoos varies from person to person. The rate of infection is minimal if the aftercare is followed appropriately. It is essential to remember not to touch the tattooed site without first washing your hands. Normal body reactions may include redness, swelling, and/ or minor discomfort at the site. If, after 48 hours, more severe complications occur (increased redness, swelling or hardness at the site, pus-like drainage, onset fever, and/or prolonged pain at the site), contact your personal physician.

DERM SHIELD APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Gently clean and dry the tattoo and the surrounding area, ensuring no soap or residue on the skin. Peel the backing (white part) to expose the adhesive side and place Derm Shield over the tattoo. Apply gently with light pressure, starting from the center towards the edges, to remove air bubbles. Do not stretch the Derm Shield during application.

The first application should remain in place for 24 hours, depending on the exudation level. It is normal for blood and fluids to collect under the bandage. After 24 hours, you must remove the first layer, clean, dry, and apply the second bandage, keeping it for another four days. Do not wear any part for more than a week.

DERM SHIELD REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Under warm running water, gently peel off the Derm Shield by slowly pulling it from the edge back onto itself. Do not pull the bandage up.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  THE DERM SHIELD DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR TATTOO FROM THE SUN EXPOSURE OR / AND INFECTIONS CAUSED BY BACTERIA PRESENT IN WATER FROM POOLS, LAKES, OCEANS, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF NOT STERILE WATER. SO, DO NOT SUBMERGE OUR TATTOO OR EXPOSE IT TO THE SUN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

REGULAR AFTERCARE INSTRUCTION (WITHOUT DERM SHIELD)

Keep the new tattoo site bandaged for approximately 2 hours.

  1. Wash hands before touching the bandage.

  2. Carefully remove the bandage and wash the area with mild soap and cool water. Dry the area and apply a thin layer of unscented lotion. Apply 2-4 times daily for at least two weeks.

  3. DO NOT re-bandage the tattoo, as it could stick to the bandage, and damage could occur.

  4. Avoid sun exposure, salt or chlorine water, or hot tubs until your tattoo is completely healed.

  5. If mild scabbing occurs, DO NOT pick at or attempt to "wash off.” Allow the scabs to slough off naturally. You may apply a mild skin lotion to keep "flaking" to a minimum.

  6. Note: In the first weeks, the colors in your new tattoo may look "hazy" or not as bright as they did when it was first applied. Do not be alarmed; this is expected during healing and will clear up in a few weeks.
